HUNDREDS of people were drawn to Michael Sobell Hospice at Mount Vernon Hospital on Saturday morning for the re-opening of the Hospice In-patient Unit.

The unit, which closed due to health and safety issues 18 months ago, is now fully refurbished and will welcome patients from the new year.

Those attending included the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr David Yarrow, and the Mayoress, the chairman of Michael Sobell Hospice Charity Trustees, Michael Breen, and Steve Curry, chief executive of Harlington Hospice.

Mr Breen said: “Now, the hard work really begins, which is to raise funds to ensure the future of hospice care [here].

“We hope the community will re-engage and support our efforts, to keep this vital service available for everyone who may need it.”
