Ravi Katharkamar, 54, was a shopkeeper who died from a stab wound to the chest on March 24.

He was stabbed in his newsagents, Marsh Food and Wine, in Marsh Road, Pinner.

Cllr Krishna Suresh, responsible for crime and community safety in Harrow, called the murder a “tragedy” and described the shopkeeper as a “down to earth, family-orientated man”.

Alex Gunn, 31, from Pinner Grove was since jailed for life with a minimum term of 32 years on October 11 for what was described as a “relentless” attack to steal £100 from the store.

Young musicians in north-west London from Harrow, Brent and Barnet schools took part in a band competition organised by the Metropolitan Police which aimed to spread an anti-violence awareness message.

Police officers also formed their own band called ‘The Real Police’ with one of their songs centred around the issue.

Neighbourhood and Partnership Policing Chief Inspector Adrian Needley said it was a “fun event” but with a “serious message”.
