Two heroes helped extinguish a house fire using high pressure hoses from their cleaning van.

Gabriel Dragomirescu and Dumitru Costin were driving their London Bin Cleaning (LBC) vehicle in September back to the company base in Pinner, when they saw a property in Dollis Hill Lane, Cricklewood on fire.

After seeing flames leaping from the balcony of the house, the drivers instinctively decided to stop and use the vehicle’s own water supply and pressure equipment as they helped to extinguish the flames for around thirty minutes until the London Fire Brigade arrived.

London Fire Brigade were called at the same time and the fire was fully extinguished nearly an hour later.

Rayners Lane FC, members of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, received an “entire uplift” at their ground, Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club.

Development started from April 2018, and the team were treated to a newly laid G3 pitch, a full-size multi use games area, additional floodlights, new car parks and improved landscaping.

A landmark willow tree caused a lot of controversy, as a major council-led project renovating Headstone Manor Park initially planned to cut down the tree.

It was explained that removing the tree was a key part to reroute Yeading Brook and form a new picnic area and beach.

After various petitions and campaigns to save the tree, the National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded £1.5million funding for the project, with the future of the tree in limbo.
