Cancer Research UK is hoping to encourage people to take part in the ‘race for life’ to battle cancer.

The ‘Race for Life’ movement that takes place at Cassiobury Park on June 7 is welcoming everyone of all ages and abilities to take part in the fundraiser, as it is no longer restricted to just female participants.

Anyone considering to enter the race is encouraged to make use of the 30 per cent off entry fee, exclusive to anyone who signs up in January.

Normally, adult or young adult entrants would pay £14.99, children would pay £10, and children under 6 are free with no registration required.

In the muddy runs, adults and young adults pay £19.99 and children pay £10.

A muddy run is also an option at the race.

Annie Ashwell, Cancer Research UK’s event manager for Hertfordshire, said: “This year, our Race for Life events are open to everyone.

“We’re sending a heart-felt message to anybody who’s thought about signing up in the past but for one reason or another hasn’t got around to it.

“This is your year – please seize the opportunity to register in January and become part of the Race for Life community.

“This January, we’re urging mums, dads, nans, grandpas, brothers, sisters, friends and workmates to show their support by joining the Race for Life.

“It’s a perfect example of everyday people doing an extraordinary thing – uniting in a common cause to beat cancer.”

In partnership with Tesco, Cancer Research UK offers 5k and 10k races, muddy races and muddy races for kids, to raise money.

The charity receives no Government funding for its research and relies of fundraisers and donations instead.

Participants can also take part in their own pace, whether they would prefer to walk, jog, or run the course.

To sign up, visit the Race for Life website and use the January code RFLJAN30 to get 30 per cent off entry.
