A student will run 13 miles along the streets of London in memory of his grandmother who died at the age of just 52.

Adnaan Ali, who lives in Kings Georges Avenue, Watford, will be one of 14,000 runners taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on March 29.

The 19-year-old former Watford Grammar School for Boys pupil will be raising money for Macmillan - a charity close to his and his family's heart.

When Adnaan was six-years-old, his grandmother Kaneez Fatima died from lung cancer.

He said: "Cancer stopped me from getting to know my gran, share memories with her, and get to know the strong person she was.

"So I've always wanted to do something to help provide support for victims and families."

Over the summer, Adnaan says he fell in love with running and has since been taking part in 5km running events in Cassiobury Park.

Looking ahead to the half-marathon, the economics with accounting student at City, University of London, said: "On the day, it's going to be a big challenge because I'm not that athletic and I've not done something like this before. But I hope it will be an amazing feeling doing this.

"If everyone donates a minimum of £2, I'll easily reach my target of £1,000 for Macmillan. Let's do this together because I need all the help I can."
