A man was approached overnight by three men – one of whom was reportedly armed with a machete.
Armed police units were called to Victoria Passage, near Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford, at around 1am this morning.
It’s alleged that the lone man was racially abused before he fled the scene. He was not injured.
Police carried out a search of Watford town centre and detained four people in the High Street.
A knife was also recovered.

Several police cars were parked in High Street this morning in the town centre after they were called.
Enquiries are continuing into the incident.
• A 19-year-old man from Watford was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place. He remains in police custody at this time.
