THE St David’s Hospice Snowdonia Trail Series has launched a bespoke running and walking initiative to raise funds.

It will be suitable for both runners and walkers, the trail series has three separate events in some of the most stunning locations in North Wales.

It will be based on three events and will be kick started with a seven kilometre long trail at Abergwyngregyn next month.

The next event will be held at Betwys-y-Coed in May with another seven kilometre long trail and the final will be 10 kilometres around Llyn Padarn, near Llanberis, in July.

Registration is now open for the Abergwyngregyn trail on Saturday March 14. This route runs past the Aber Falls and then follows the North Wales Coastal path.

Rhian Jacobs, St David’s Hospice Events Coordinator, said: “We are so excited to have announced the new Snowdonia Trail Series, which we hope will have the added benefit of introducing participants from out of the area to the dramatic grandeur of Snowdonia.

“The routes we have chosen for the event are through some of the most breathtakingly beautiful areas of North Wales.

"Aber Falls, in particular, is spectacular, the route follows a path up to the waterfall which plunges 120 feet down, and then along the hillside where you will be greeted at the top with the beautiful coastal scenery of Anglesey and Puffin Island in the distance.

“The Betws 7k on Saturday May 16, is lovely and enjoys a circular route through shady fir forests and upland meadows.

"On forest tracks, it passes abandoned mines, reminders of the industrial heritage of the area and offers breath taking views of the ever dominant Moel Siabod and the Conwy Valley.

“We are really looking forward to have walkers and runners of all abilities, come together for this challenge.

"Let’s embrace the beautiful scenery of Snowdonia that we have on our doorstep, feel great and raise the funds for the Hospice.”

“We would like to thank the Abergwyngregyn Regeneration Company for their support and sponsorship towards the Aber Fall 7k. It promises to be a fantastic day in the fresh air.”

All participants must be over the age of 16 and there is an option to take part in individual events or the complete trail series.

Registration for walkers is £16 per event, which includes a medal and £22 for runners, which includes chip timing and a medal. There is also the option of registering for all three events for a reduced entry fee: £39 for walkers or £59 for runners, which also includes a bespoke T-shirt.
