PATIENTS, staff and volunteers at Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood are looking forward to welcoming Princess Katherine of Serbia next Wednesday (26).
Dr Elaine Laycock, who worked at Michael Sobell from 1980-1992 and who has visited Serbia numerous times, said: “I know she has done an amazing amount of humanitarian work for many years, and that she has had a special interest in Michael Sobell.
“It helped to get palliative care started in her country.”
As well as touring the refurbished unit, the Princess will see a new stained glass window, designed and created by Stuart Laycock, son of Dr Laycock. He designed the first hospice logo in 1980.
It will be called The Sun Window, representing a rising sun with rays spreading out to provide warmth and light.
