LOVE was in the air at Shelburne Lodge care home, in High Wycombe, on February 14 - as it was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.

Staff, residents and guests celebrated the day of love with a special ABBA tribute performance.

Deputy manager at the Rutland Street care home Marina Glen, said: “Today has shown us all that you are never too old for love. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun for the individuals that live here and their guests and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”

Recognising that Valentine’s Day can be lonely for some, the care home invited in local older people to enjoy a free meal prepared by the home’s chef and served in the dining room.

The care home is run by Barchester Healthcare and has space for 54 residents.
