FOR its next performance, the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra is planning an animal-themed family concert.

Children are especially welcome, to discover the magic of seeing and hearing a full orchestra live in concert.

The programme will include music from Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

Film music will also feature with Mancini’s The Pink Panther and Mike Batt’s Bright Eyes from the original Watership Down.

There will also be the chance to join Strauss for his Cuckoo Polka or to take flight with his Overture to Die Fledermaus, not to mention an encounter with Bugs Bunny, or a chorus or two of Flanders and Swann’s Hippopotamus Song.

Audience participation will be required both for sing-alongs and a story section.

Currently in its 34th season, the Hillingdon Philharmonic has more than 60 members and has performed at venues across the borough, as well as in London.

The concert will be led by Lucy Cumming and conducted by the founder of the orchestra, Peter J Williams.
