Runners had a flipping good day as groups of people gathered to celebrate Shrove Tuesday in the annual Pancake Day race.
Despite the cold weather, 14 teams from businesses in Rickmansworth took part in the annual event organised by Watford Mencap today (February 25), to raise money for people with learning disabilities.
The tradition has been going on for nearly 20 years, as businesses ran the course through High Street, Rickmansworth, while flipping a pancake.
Cityscape and Three Rivers District Council went the extra mile, as they contributed two teams each to the race.
Other businesses involved include the Coach & Horses, Thrive Homes, Mercer & Hole and more.

While Watford Mencap are still calculating the final amount donated, it is believed at least £2,500 was raised.
Jane Pattinson, the chief executive of Watford Mencap, said: “People had a really good time, you could hear a lot of people cheering and clapping, so was great to hear.
“It’s great that the profile of the charity is raised and it’s great for the high street in terms of bringing everybody out and acting as a community in Rickmansworth.”
In response to the high turnout of contributors and spectators, she said: “There always is, every year, despite whatever the weather is. It’s been perfect, chilly, but perfect.
“People do stop, and people actually know and expect the race each year, so it’s quite the tradition.”

Cityscape took the crown for the race for the fourth year in a row with one of its teams, Flipping Good.
Every £400 raised in the race funds for a child with learning disabilities to attend an after-school club in Watford that runs four days a week to provide activities, social opportunities and entertainment.
The afterschool club is also an opportunity for families who care for children with learning disabilities to relax.

A spokesperson from Three Rivers District Council added: “We would encourage more businesses to take part, support Watford Mencap and raise awareness of this local charity.
“We find that the race is a great way of engaging residents, having fun and helping people with learning disabilities.”
