A second patient with coronavirus has died at Watford General Hospital, an NHS Trust has confirmed.

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has confirmed a woman in her 70s passed away.

A statement from the trust said: "Sadly, we can confirm that a woman who was being cared for at Watford General Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient, who died on Saturday 21 March, was in her 70s and had underlying health conditions. Her family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

NHS England has confirmed a further 46 people with coronavirus have died across the country, as of 9am today.

A statement from NHS England said that among the 46 victims, patients were aged between 47 and 105 years old, and they “all had underlying health conditions”.

The second death in Watford is the third so far in Hertfordshire.

On the evening of March 9, a worshipper at Bhaktivedanta Manor aged in his 80s died at Watford General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust confirmed on Saturday that a woman in her 70s died at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The death toll in the UK has risen to 335, as of 1pm today.

As of 9am today, a total of 83,945 have been tested - 77,295 negative and 6,650 positive.
