Allotments in Harrow remain open, but users must continue to follow government guidance around social distancing.
Harrow Council confirmed that the borough’s allotments will continue to operate during the coronavirus pandemic.
This is to allow plots to be maintained and people to get some fresh air.
However, users must obey government rules around social distancing – this means only visiting once a day as part of a daily exercise routine and keeping at least two metres from others.
The council also advised visitors to wash or sanitise their hands regularly, including before and after trips to the site.
Those showing symptoms of coronavirus or self-isolating should not visit the allotments.
There had been some concerns that allotment users were being told they had time limits on their visits, but the council confirmed this is not the case.
However, the allotment service has been hit by coronavirus in one way – its helpline has been suspended and information is only available online.
