Detectives are investigating a false report that said a man had abducted a child.
Police were called to Wesley Avenue, Harrow, at 1.50pm yesterday (May 13), when a child reported to his mother, he had seen a younger child being forcibly taken into a car.
A man in his mid-forties was stopped driving at a street in Pinner at around 3pm.
Following the claim, police arrested the man on suspicion of abduction, and he was taken to a north London police station.
Officers then made extensive door-to-door enquires at the location to find out more about the case.
After further investigation, police say they are “now content” that a child was not abducted, despite the original report.
The arrested man was released with no further action and a full explanation of the facts.
