Just 21 homes were sold in Watford and surrounding districts in March - shortly before the housing market froze due to the lockdown.

This figure is just 0.6 per cent of all home sales in January - before coronavirus took hold in the UK.

In January, 3,518 homes were sold in Watford borough, Three Rivers and Hertsmere. In February, after the first case of coronavirus in the UK, sales dropped to 204 - just 6 per cent of January's figure.

House prices had also dropped, according to Land Registry data. In Watford, the average house price dropped by 2.8 per cent to £334,610 from February to March.

Throughout the whole of March, there have been just six home sales in Watford borough, seven in Three Rivers and eight in Hertsmere.

The two-bedroom retirement flat was sold as a leasehold on March 3 for £215,000. The Garston property is part of a block of 39 flats developed by McCarthy & Stone in 2008. There is a communal garden, lounge and guest facilities. Management staff look after the apartment block and there are social activities for residents.
