UXBRIDGE’S intu shopping centre has outlined how it will support the gradual reopening of its non-essential stores.
The plan includes new distancing and hygiene measures. While unique to Uxbridge, it was developed by experts from across intu following research among shopping centre visitors.
It includes placing limits on the number of people and cars allowed into the centre at one time, with some parking bays closed, and a raft of other measures, including one-way systems and floor stickers.
Deep cleaning of key areas and touch points, like escalators, toilets and keypads, have remained in place while intu Uxbridge provides access to pharmacies, supermarkets and banks in its centres during lockdown.
Hand sanitation stands will also remain at entrances and other locations, while intu staff will be given protective equipment to wear.
Matthew Roberts, chief executive, said: "intu is the biggest landlord for most of our brand customers, so we have been working to help them plan the reopening of their stores."
