Development sites are reopening across the country as lockdown restrictions ease.

Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey has reopened its developments across the UK with a phased return to construction starting from last Friday (May 22).

This means developments at its sites in north London, east London, St Albans and Essex will now continue.

Taylor Wimpey was the first UK homebuilder to stop construction on sites and closes sale centres at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and will now return with revised health and safety practices.

Sites reopening:

East London

• Hackney Wick

• Chobham Manor, Stratford

• Eclipse, Walthamstow

North London

• Millbrook Park, Mill Hill

• Oakleigh Grove, Whetstone

St Albans

• Beaumont Gardens

• Oaklands Grange

New safety measures introduced at stores include the installation of Perspex screens and marker guides for social distancing.

Show home viewings will be unaccompanied and only two people from each household will be able to view each home.

Michael O’Leary, managing director for Taylor Wimpey East London spoke on behalf of the areas and said: “Reopening our sales offices and show homes is a significant step for both staff and customers. I want to assure the public that we are not prepared to compromise on health and safety, which is why we will be operating our East London sales offices on a strict appointment-only basis.

“I also understand that some customers may still prefer not to visit us in person.

“Our sales teams have been working remotely over the past few weeks, helping customers through each stage of the homebuying journey and we will continue to offer remote appointments.”
