A drive-thru coronavirus testing centre in Watford will once again open twice this week for people across the borough.

East and North Hertfordshire CCG confirmed that the ‘pop-up’ centre at Watford Leisure Centre will open on Thursday and Sunday this week, between 10am-4pm.

The site will be open to anyone over five-years-old who is in the first few days of having suspected symptoms, and it is imperative that people eligible for a test book the day before.

It was confirmed last week that the centre would open on Thursdays as well as Sundays in a bid to help meet the need for drive-thru testing in Hertfordshire.

Watford’s testing centre is the only site of three in Hertfordshire that is opening more than once a week, with Watford Borough Council confirming hundreds of people have been using its facilities.

For people eligible to use any of the testing sites in the county, health authorities have warned that tests are only "effective" if you are in your first three days of coronavirus symptoms - most commonly a cough or fever.

Symptoms of coronavirus include people having a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of or change in normal sense of taste or smell.

People are being asked to bring a mobile phone with them to any of the test centres if they have one.

Testing sites will open between 10am-4pm:

On Thursdays in Watford at the Central Watford leisure centre, WD17 3HA

On Saturdays in Hertford at County Hall, Pegs Lane, SG13 8DQ

On Sundays in Watford at the Central Watford leisure centre, WD17 3HA

On Mondays in Stevenage, off Six Hills Way, SG1 2DF.  Please follow the signs to the test centre, to ensure that you do not join a queue for the Household Waste Recycling Centre.

To book a test, go online to www.gov.uk/coronavirus and enter your details.
