No new coronavirus-related deaths were announced in east London hospitals today, for the first time in more than a month.
A total of 1,003 people have died at either Barts Health NHS Trust or neighbouring Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) since the start of the pandemic.
Barts Health NHS Trust, which manages Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone and four other hospitals, has seen the most deaths from the virus of any London trust.
BHRUT, which manages King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen's Hospital in Romford, has announced no new deaths for the second day in a row.
However, according to Public Health England, there were 412 new coronavirus-related deaths in the UK yesterday, compared to 121 the day before.
More than 2,000 new people tested positive for the virus on the same day.
Since the start of the pandemic, almost 37,000 UK residents have died.
So far, more than 32,000 people have died in England since the start of the pandemic.
