A butchers in Watford has been nominated as one of the public's favourite businesses in town due to its service throughout lockdown.

G Gibson's, located on The Parade in the town centre has been put forward for its "excellent customer service" during the coronavirus pandemic.

We asked readers last weeks to nominate stores and businesses their favourite shop. This is so we can highlight their important role in the community and encourage others to shop there.

Owner Michael Chapman, who took over the store 27 years ago, has said most of the changes to the shop are shorter opening hours.

Mr Chapman closed his shop throughout the pandemic at 2pm to ensure he could clean the whole store before the next morning.

He said: "We have done deliveries which has got us out of trouble. It has slowed down now but we have go to play it by year.

"It is the unknown at the moment. We still have the local people coming, like elderly people who are unable to get into Watford.

"So we deliver to them in St Albans and Hemel Hempstead."

Mr Chapman said he was pleased that his shop was put forward as a local favourite especially for his customer service.

He added: "It feels good to be recognised. We have got a good following and it's great when you get some support from them.

"We have been in Watford for a long time."
