Police are investigating a "distressing" incident where a man had "indecently exposed" himself to a woman.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says the incident happened on a footpath leading from The Grove to Hempstead Road, Watford, between 5.20pm and 5.30pm on Thursday, June 18.

The force says a woman was walking along the path when she sensed someone was behind her.

She turned around to find a man had "indecently exposed" himself, police said.

The man has been described as Asian in his late 30s, around 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.

Police say he was wearing a blue tracksuit, with a red T-shirt underneath and sunglasses.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information.

Patrols have also been stepped up following the incident, with another similar separate incident having happened the following evening, police said.

Detective Constable Charlie Mclaughlin, who is investigating, said: “This was a distressing incident for the woman and we are making enquiries to trace the suspect. As this time, we are keeping an open mind as to whether it may be linked to a similar incident which occurred in the area the following evening and patrols have been increased.

“If you have witnessed anything similar or have any information which may help us to identify this man, please contact us.”
