Police have stopped investigating an incident where two young girls were approached by men in a car as the driver was acting on "good intent".
Hertfordshire Constabulary officers had been looking into the incident in Hayling Road, South Oxhey, which happened on Wednesday, June 24.
However, the force says an "innocent explanation" has now been accepted.
Police said that the driver of the car, who approached the girls, was helping a lady whose niece had gone missing and was the same age of the girls who had called police.
Everyone involved has been identified and spoken to, and officers concluded that the incident was no more than an act of "good intent" by the driver.
South Oxhey Neighbourhood Sergeant Dan Amos said: “We take reports of this nature very seriously.
“After some extensive enquiries it appears that the driver of the vehicle that approached the two girls was in fact, helping a lady whose niece had gone missing and was the same age of the girls who called police.
“We have followed up the account of all parties and I am now satisfied that this incident is no more than an act of good intent by the driver.
“I would like to thank all those who called in to support the investigation.”
