Less than 20 per cent of wards across four districts in south west Hertfordshire recorded a Covid-19 death in July, data published this week shows.

A map released by the Office for National Statistics shows Covid-19 deaths occurred in just 10 wards out of a total of 56 in Watford, Hertsmere, Three Rivers, and St Albans last month.

And 35 wards have not recorded a Covid-19 death in June or July, while nine have not seen any coronavirus deaths since the end of April.

ONS data shows Borehamwood, Potters Bar, Rickmansworth, and Abbots Langley are among wider areas which have not seen any Covid-19 deaths in July, with none in Rickmansworth, Abbots Langley, or Potters Bar since May.

Of 10 deaths that have been recorded in July where Covid-19 appeared on the death certificate, five were across St Albans district, with three in Watford, and one in each of Hertsmere and Three Rivers.

The three deaths in Watford were all in Holywell.

Hillingdon Times:

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has recorded 372 Covid-19 deaths as of August 28

The worst affected wards across the four boroughs and districts are Holywell and Nascot Wood in Watford; Borehamwood Cowley Hill, Bushey Heath, and Potters Bar Parkfield in Hertsmere; and Moor Park & Batchworth in Three Rivers.

These wards have recorded at least 20 Covid-19 deaths each since March, mainly due to outbreaks in care homes.

Only one ward out of the 56 did not record a Covid-19 death in April - Harpenden Common - which indicates how widespread the virus has been and how many neighbourhoods have suffered during the pandemic.

The wards with the fewest coronavirus deaths are Tudor in Watford with two, Oxhey Hall & Hayling in Three Rivers, also with two, and Redbourn, Croxley North & Sarratt, and Garston, which have all recorded just three.

Kings Langley in Dacorum has seen just one death.

See the table below to see how many Covid-19 deaths there have been in your ward - and which wards did not see any deaths in July.

The data above only runs until the of July.

However, broader data published weekly by the ONS shows two coronavirus deaths have occurred in St Albans district in August.
