Back in the 1930s, 77-79 Station Road was the shop of Frank Uglow, a locally renowned linen & drapers shop.
Join Chingford Historical Society on Thursday 17th September 2020 at 7pm for a free online historical talk on Uglow’s.
10 years after the shop doors closed in Station Road, Peter Uglow will tell the story of the family business that thrived in Chingford for 100 years.
The shop is now a bookmaker's.

Green Farm (above) stood on the edge of Chingford Green in Station Road which in 1844 covered over 80 acres and stretched from Station Road to Pole Hill.
Replaced in 1959 by the Chingford Assembly Hall & Library, these buildings are fine examples of municipal architecture dating from 1959 and an important part of Chingford’s history.
Designed for Chingford Council by Tooley Foster Architects this 2/3 storey brick-built building is typical of the Festival of Britain-inspired architecture of the period.
