FOUR fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze at a shop with flats above in Leeland Road, West Ealing, on Saturday evening (5).
A one-room flat on the first floor was destroyed and a man rescued via an internal staircase. He was taken to hospital after inhaling smoke fumes.
Another man had left the premises before the brigade arrived. He was also taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke.
Crews from Ealing, Acton and Southall had the fire under control within an hour.
The cause is under investigation.
