Evergreen bounced back from their opening game defeat with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Rifle Volunteer in only their second match of the season.

Rifle started with new players making debuts and Evergreen took advantage of this with a strong start, going ahead early on after Ben Adams scored on the rebound.

The second goal followed shortly after, with Oliver Cripps scoring with a long range free- kick.

Evergreen sealed the win 15 minutes into the second half after a corner from Kyle Rimmer allowed Max Moore to score the third.

Rifle then found themselves reduced to nine men and the fourth and final goal came when the ball fell to Joss Dunham inside the area to slot home.

Like Evergreen, Chorleywood Club also have three points from two games following a 4-2 victory over Old Fullerians.

Clement Asante opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a shot from outside the box.

Tom Shaw then doubled the lead before Fullers pulled a goal back when Ryan Woosley got on the end of a Charlie Hailey through ball, rounded the keeper and slotted home.

However, Chorleywood restored their two-goal advantage when Michael East got the first of his brace ten minutes before the break.

The second half saw Old Fullerians pull a goal back once more, this time Woosley turning provider for Hailey to score at the back post.

But the game was put of their reach 20 minutes from time when East netted his second with a fine chip.

The game between the top teams saw Oakview bounce back from their previous week’s shock defeat with a narrow 1-0 win over old rivals St Josephs, the three points enough to jump over their opponents and go back to the top of the table.

The game was an even affair, however just before half-time Oakview were awarded a penalty but this was struck against the bar.

Oakview scored what turned out to be the winner midway through the second half when Lewis Putman broke down the left to cross for Chris Blunden to score with a volley.

The derby between FC Unicorn and Sun Postal Sports ended in a 2-2 draw.

Unicorn opened the scoring when Callum O’Connor and Luke Habbijam combined for Jack Read to score on his debut.

The second half saw the game open up and Sun levelled when a cross to back post was headed home by Jack Robertson.

Within ten minutes, Sun went ahead as Sam Clarke managed to win the first ball following a goal kick and smashed his finish high in the air over the advancing keeper.

However, the lead was short lived when a bizarre mix up between goalkeeper and O’Connor saw Unicorn awarded a penalty when O’Connor inexplicably picked up the ball in his own box following a short goal kick.

Luke Peerless made no mistake with the spot kick, sending the keeper the wrong way to ensure both sides finished with a point apiece.

North Watford are the only side with a 100 per cent record so far after they beat Oxhey Spartans 3-0.

The home side even had the luxury of missing an early penalty through Conor Flanagan.

Karl Brown finally put them ahead with a strike inside the area just before the break.

Flanagan then made up for his penalty miss after the break, firing in a half-volley to double the lead, and then Shoaib Ali scored with a header right on the final whistle.

Cassiobury Rangers are in second place following a second win in three games after a 3-2 home victory over Bushey Rangers.

Rangers took the lead when Joe Mortimer saw his stooping header saved by the Bushey keeper but he could only divert it into the path of Joe Ainsworth, who was able to smash home from close range.

Bushey soon equalised when some good work down the right allowed Craig Gory to tap home.

Cassiobury retook the lead three minutes before the break when a ball across field from Jamie McDougall evaded the defence, putting Mortimer clean through and he finished coolly.

Both sides missed chances after the break before Cassiobury did eventually open up a two-goal margin when Dan Cardozo drove through the middle of the Bushey defence. He set up Conor Callanan who in turn allowed Mortimer to run and cross for Corum Chase to score at the back post.

The game had one last twist when, with five minutes left, Steve Dowling scored from a twice taken penalty for Bushey but it was to prove too little, too late.

Ricky AFC provided a shock against AFC Leavesden with a 2-0 win which inflicted a first defeat of the season on their opponents.

The first half was an open end-to-end affair, with Leavesden hitting the post before Ricky went ahead when probably the smallest player on the pitch, Brooke Russel, headed home.

Ricky then had keeper Rob Miller to thank for some excellent saves after the interval.

After Leavesden had an equaliser ruled out for offside, Miller’s long goal kick was missed by the entire Leavesden defence, allowing Shane Kitts a free run on goal to seal the victory.

In the battle of the two sides who had suffered two defeats in their opening games, it was Maple Cross who got their season up and running with a 2-0 win over Langleybury CC.

Both goals came in the final five minutes as the game appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw.

First substitute Dean Brownsell headed in before Luke Hancock slotted home two minutes later.

Eagles beat Watford Sports 2-0, with Jack McLaughlin and Jonty Bier-Allan scoring.

Adam Wilden half given the home side the lead in the first half but their opponents struck back in the second period through goals from Louis Matthews and Jamie Fanning.

For the second week running Watford Town won the ‘Woodside derby’, this time with league points at stake, with a 3-2 win.

Louis Smith scored all of Town’s three goals, the first a fine solo effort. Woodside replied through Nelson Santos and Gary Wicks.

Aidan Brennan, Will Jones, Sean Brennan, Joe Morahan, Jake Rodger all scored, with Mikel Walsh getting both Batchworth replies.

The game between South Herts and King George ended in a 2-2 draw.

Eric Hand Challenge Cup Round One

The outstanding fixture, an all-Division Three tie between Inter and Sparta Phoenix, saw the visitors win 4-1 but they did need extra-time to set up a tie against Second Division FC Woodside.

James Gunning scored the Inter goal, but a Humza Khan brace and one each for Alec Bailey and Floyd Thompson sealed the win.
