Armed police rushed to Watford after receiving a call that a teenager was brandishing a gun.

Multiple officers, including armed and dog units, sealed off part of the town centre yesterday afternoon (Saturday October 17).

Watford Police published on social media: "Police were called to the Clarendon Road area of Watford this afternoon by a concerned member of the public who had seen three male teenagers brandishing what appeared to be some sort of black handgun.

"Armed response units rushed to the area which was sealed off. The three teenagers were stopped by the armed officers.

"Following a search of the males an imitation handgun was found. The weapon was seized and the male arrested for possession of an imitation firearm.

"We would like to thank the people who phoned in; without your help and vigilance this gun could have been used to further commit crime."

An image of the recovered weapon was also published.
