A ROLE model teen is celebrating after her charity drive broke the £1,000 mark.

Hannah Birch, 18, from Halstead, recent donated her long hair to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity makes wigs for young people who have lost their own hair while undergoing cancer treatment.

Hannah lost her flowing locks at Dale’s Hair Salon in Halstead on October 17 just a few days before her 18th birthday.

The teenager, who is the leader of Halstead’s HAPPY youth group, wanted to do something for charity after realising there are many who sadly haven’t had the healthy childhood she had.

To mark the event, she has also been running a Facebook fundraiser to raise cash for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Now Hannah is over the moon after hitting her £1,000 target.

Following the hair donation, she had managed to raise just over £800 but left the fundraiser open hoping to hit her dream target.

The fundraiser hit the magic number on Tuesday but finally closed at the end of the month.

Hannah said: “As of today we hit the £1000 mark.

“I’m absolutely over the moon and in complete shock.

“And it’s not actually over until the end of October.”
