THE Cotswold Voluntary Wardens helped out at the Longfield Hospice in Minchinhampton earlier this month.

The small work party helped cut back overgrown shrubs and cleared debris from around the garden.

The hospice usually relies on volunteers from around the community but these have been prevented from helping due to the pandemic.

The wardens were working in small socially distanced groups prior to the latest lockdown, clearing footpaths and installing kissing gates and stiles.

They have continued to patrol the Parish footpaths throughout the pandemic.

They have also continued to patrol the section of the Cotswold Way which crosses the local landscape.

This has been particularly important during the present time as so many people are taking advantage of the beautiful area.

Guided walks are currently cancelled until further notice but the group have been out trialling new walks in preparation for walking in groups again in the future.

Anyone can join the voluntary group, all you need is enthusiasm for the Cotswolds and a willingness to offer your time and skills.
