A MEMORIAL for people who have died from Coronavirus is to be unveiled tomorrow in Quedgeley -an area where there have been many Covid-related deaths.

The tribute was the idea of a local charity, 'Help If We Can', which has organised tomorrow's dedication of the inscribed stone to follow on from the annual Armistice Day service at the war memorial.

Steve Smith, chairman of Help if We Can said: "Today because of the Covid problem, which has resulted in many deaths in and around Quedgeley, Hardwicke and other areas nearby, we thought it a fitting tribute to put a Memorial Stone to their memory in the Quedgeley Memorial Garden by kind permission of Quedgeley Town Council."

He thanked Christopher Ransome, boss of C.P Ransome Monumental Masons Ltd of Stonehouse for his 'tremendous generosity' in providing, engraving and installing the new memorial free of charge.

"Help if we Can, which is now nine-years-old, was started by serving and former members of the emergency services and the military with the aim of helping good causes," said Mr Smith.

"Since then we have donated many thousands of pounds.

"The new memorial will be dedicated tomorrow, Armistice Day, with due respect by the Help if we Can Chaplain the Reverend Canon Hugh Broad."
