Vulnerable people and the elderly are being given advice on how to stay healthy and happy this winter.

Thousands of people living in Hertfordshire will be receiving essential advice to protect their wellbeing over coming months.

A partnership project involving charities, volunteers, firefighters and NHS will be delivering a 16-page booklet called ‘Your Guide to Staying Well in Hertfordshire’.

Dr Prag Moodley and Dr Nicolas Small, chairs of East and North Hertfordshire CCG and Herts Valley CCG produced the booklet.

Dr Small said: “We want to support people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

“Knowing how to look after yourself, manager your long term condition, stop it getting worse plus who to contact if you need extra help is really valuable information.”

The booklet contains information on what health symptoms you should get checked on, the help pharmacies can provide and also tips to keep your home warm and safe.

Dr Moodley said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and for many older people, this has brought uncertainty and worry.

“We want people to know that the NHS is still here to help and they shouldn’t hesitate to contact us if they need to.”

The guide is being delivered by community volunteers from, Hertfordshire Independent Living Service, charity Small Acts of Kindness, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

Booklets will also be available from larger pharmacies, GP practices and libraries from early December. If you would like some leaflets to distribute in your area, email enhertsccg.communications@nhs.net .
