THE owner of a popular Indian restaurant in Ealing has been recognised for helping people in the community.
Manik Miah and his team at the Haweli, 127-129 Uxbridge Road, have been making food deliveries to vulnerable people, as well as offering discounts to NHS staff and care workers during the pandemic.
Now, it has been honoured by the trade magazine, Curry Life.
Mr Miah said: "We were delighted to deliver free meals to staff at Hammersmith Hospital, and we also helped the Salvation Army with free meals."
Explaining the Local COVID Curry Hero initiative, editor-in-chief Syed Nahas Pasha said: “Curry houses have gone out of their way to be almost a fourth emergency service to vulnerable people.
“Their businesses and livelihoods have been severely impacted, but this has not stopped them offering a helping hand to the most needy.”
