A VIRTUAL Christmas advent campaign to celebrate community after a year when it mattered most has been launched.

Residents at Barratt London developments across the capital, including Hayes Village in Nestles Avenue, volunteered to appear behind a door to celebrate the strong communities that have been forged in the pandemic.

Jim Wood, managing director, said: “It has been wonderful to see new neighbours rallying around and helping each other during this difficult time.

“We have heard of doorstep drinks, walking clubs, resident WhatsApp groups to help pick up shopping for those isolating, and drop-off points to support foodbanks.”

Interior designer Steven Luemba, who took part in the calendar, added: “When lockdown was at its most strict, we’d sit on our balconies and cheer each other up, or sit in our front doorways and talk down the corridors with a glass of wine.”

The doors of the virtual calendar will come to life each day at 11am. Follow the Facebook page to view: https://www.facebook.com/barrattlondon/ or on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/barrattlondon_/
