AMANDA Holden and Roman Kemp are among special guests hosting the Virtual Open Event for the Global Academy School in Hayes this Thursday (21).

Global is a unique secondary school, based in The Old Vinyl Factory in Blyth Road, for school years 10-13. It prepares students for a career in broadcast and digital media.

Amanda and Roman will join students, staff and others in a virtual event being broadcast on YouTube, Facebook and the school website.

Students can join the Global Academy in Year 10 to kick-start their career in the creative industry by studying GCSEs alongside industry qualifications or in the sixth form at 16.

Global, owners of Capital and Heart, where Roman Kemp and Amanda Holden work, are the founding partners of the school.

They provide work experience, guest speakers, mentoring and real-life projects.

The event will feature graduates now working behind the scenes in production roles at radio stations like Heart and Capital.

Yasmin Arabstani, 21, from West Drayton, who graduated in 2018, is now assistant video producer on the Capital Breakfast Show with Roman Kemp.

She said: “Global taught me the skills to develop my craft and opened up opportunities which I never thought were possible.”

Other graduates have landed roles at the BBC, Facebook, Google, TikTok and a number of advertising  agencies.

The event is available on the school website, globalacademy.com as well as Facebook and YouTube via the Academy’s profile pages from 7pm on Thursday.
