A house party and wedding anniversary celebration were among several gatherings that broke coronavirus lockdown rules this month.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has dished out dozens of fines during February to people not following lockdown rules, including a £10,000 fine.

Below are the incidents police in Hertfordshire have fined people for in February.

St Albans – Partygoers fined for breaking lockdown rules

Twelve people who rented out a property in St Albans for a house party were issued with fines before being kicked out by police.

Officers in the city were alerted to reports of a large group of people carrying alcohol arriving at an address in Victoria Street just after midnight on Saturday (February 6).

When police arrived at the address, they found 12 people inside who had all travelled from north London.

All 12 people were issued with £200 fines for breaching lockdown restrictions before being moved on.

Watford – Fines issued after Wedding Anniversary celebration

Partygoers who gathered to celebrate a wedding anniversary were collectively fined nearly £15,000.

Police were called to reports of a gathering in Devereux Drive, Watford, at around 8.30pm on Sunday, February 14.

Officers discovered 18 people inside the address celebrating and issued them all with an £800 fine for breaching lockdown restrictions before sending them away.

Hitchin – Organiser of remembrance service fined

Police have issued a £10,000 coronavirus fine to the organiser of a remembrance service which was attended by more than 100 people.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says it was alerted to large numbers of people at Hitchin Yeshiva school in north Hertfordshire on the evening of Saturday, February 20.

On arrival, officers found a large group of people had gathered for a service of remembrance event.

Under coronavirus laws, a maximum of six people are allowed to attend a wake or celebration of life event. Only 30 people are permitted to attend a funeral service.

Officers dispersed the group and as around 150 people had attended the address during Saturday, police issued a £10,000 fixed penalty notice.
