A DONATION of £5,000 to Acton Arts Project, to set up a cinema in the old library in the high street, is promised by Catalyst Housing.
The pop-up cinema will house a single screen, showing films four days a week.
The group has raised more than £60,000 to get the project off the ground.
A pop-up will allow the team to begin fund-raising to restore the exterior of the Grade II listed building and attract cash to find a permanent home for a two-screen cinema.
Sahil Khan, Director of Community Investment at Catalyst said: “Acton is in Catalyst’s home borough and we have many customers who live there who I’m sure will be queuing up for tickets.
“Our regeneration of the Friary Park estate will also see more people move into the town who will appreciate a local, independently-run cinema on their doorstep.
“Acton already has a lot to offer and this will really add to the local arts and culture scene.”
