A TOTAL of 142 young people from schools and colleges in Hillingdon received their Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at a live digital event.

It celebrated award winners aged 11-25 from Hillingdon for their contributions to school or college community.

Winners received medallions and framed certificates from the Foundation, along with a £250 grant for their school or youth group.

Winners include Katie Lamb, 16, who attends Global Academy in Blyth Road, Hayes.

She is a young carer with a medical condition of her own but still comes to school every day and gives it her all.

Katie always greets her peers and staff with a smile and supports her friends both academically and emotionally every day.

Reannah De Souza, 15, who also attends Global Academy, received her award for work with the science department.

Not only does she contribute to the school’s science club but she volunteers to demonstrate at open evenings.

Michael Marquiss, 14, who attends Oak Wood High School in Sutton Court Road, Hillingdon, was rewarded for his enthusiasm and positive contributions to the school.

He attends many after school clubs, including the gardening club, where he has made a great contribution in the school grounds.

Laura Silva Caulonga, 14, of Queensmead School, Queens Walk, South Ruislip, has been helping the badminton club as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award. Tasks include doing the register to setting up and clearing the session.

Sir Jack founded the Jack Petchey Foundation in 1999 to recognise the positive contributions young people make to society.

Since then, the Foundation has supported more than 2,000 initiatives and invested £133m, including £897,000 in Hillingdon.
