HILLINGDON Philharmonic Orchestra is returning in style to give its first public performance in 16 months.

The orchestra will stage a socially-distanced summer concert as a first step back towards regular performances. It will feature favourite classical works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Handel.

The orchestra was forced to cancel all planned rehearsals and concerts in lockdown.

When restrictions were eased, the group met for four sessions. simply to play music together again for fun.

Now, they are looking forward to welcome back an audience.

The concert will open with Mozart’s dramatic Overture to Don Giovanni, followed by Beethoven’s 2nd Symphony, before reaching a grand conclusion with Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks.

HPO has more than 60 members and has performed across Hillingdon and at some of London’s most prestigious venues, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Southwark Cathedral.

The performance will be led by Lucy Cumming and conducted by the founder of the orchestra, Peter J Williams.
