AN Uxbridge man will play a major role in Heart of Hammersmith a show which celebrates West London as a cultural hub of the capital.
James Douglas-Quarcoopome is a star of Heart of Hammersmith at the Lyric Theatre from August 12-14.
He said: “I’ve grown up in Uxbridge and this was very important to me as part of the devising process for the play.
“In particular, I was keen to express the strong community feel that Uxbridge has. I can’t wait to celebrate my home and West London in the production.”
Heart of Hammersmith tells of inter-generational stories of the people, significant places and events that began in West London, like the Notting Hill Carnival and tragedy of Grenfell Tower.
The show centres on the themes of shared memories, LGBTQ+ struggles and Black Lives Matter.
The cast are aged from 11-88 and all represent the vibrant area of West London and come from varied careers and backgrounds, including acting, teaching, yoga, drag entertainment, tourism, care, architecture, disability arts and lots more.
“Together, we are very excited to star on a major London stage in the Lyric’s very first community play as the venue reopens following a year-long closure due to lockdown,” said James.
