A festival is coming back to Watford for its fifth year and will be putting on over 50 acts in eight different venues across the town.

The Watford Fringe festival will be running over three days from October 1 to 3.

The acts will be performed across the following venues: Pump House Theatre, Colne River Room Studio and Charles Room, Watford Palace Theatre & Studio, The Watford Museum, The Horns, Well Spring Church, Amanartist, D20 Café and The Tudor Arms.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor will be opening The Watford Fringe on Friday October 1 at 6.30pm and MP Dean Russell will be closing the festival late Sunday night.

The line-up includes several shows from Edinburgh and plays such as Audacious Mr. Astley and Little Boxes by Joann Condon, from Little Britain, SKANK by Clementine Bogg-Hargroves who will be performing her one-woman show.

Music will include The Reggulators at The Horns and Paprika at The Pump House Colne River Room which fuses together Eastern European, Balkan, gypsy and classical music in their repertoire.

David Naylor, from Stevenage, will be playing a solo world percussion piece called 'Connections' which is about using music to bring the world together.

His act, which will be at the Watford Museum, is called The Gathering of Drums and uses instruments from the seven continents, representing the major religions.

An orchestra called ASO will perform at the venue Amanartis in West Watford Cemetery.

As well as all the above, there will also be comedians, jazz, folk, South Asian music, rock music, musical theatre, workshops, poetry, children’s acts, magicians, ballet, Khatak dancing and choirs.

All safety measures for Covid are in place and some of the venues will also be streaming the performances live for those who want to enjoy them from home.

The festival, which is run 90% by volunteers, will also be serving food and drink.
