RUISLIP, Northwood and Pinner MP David Simmonds met with delegates from the National Deaf Children’s Society at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester on Monday (4).

The group discussed some of the key issues facing deaf children, including the challenges they’ve faced during the pandemic and how schools can support them effectively.

They also talked about the Government’s upcoming review of the SEND system and which changes can make the biggest impact for deaf children.

Jo Campion,  the society’s deputy director, said: “With the right support, deaf children can do anything hearing children can do, but far too many are still falling through the cracks of the SEND system.

“Meetings like this give us the chance to explain the key issues directly to MPs and move closer towards a world without barriers for every deaf child.”
