FURTHER measures to tackle climate change, including holding an annual ‘people's assembly’, will be taken in Hillingdon .
A Labour group motion, amended by the ruling Conservatives, was approved at last night’s (18) council meeting. Hillingdon will:
- Ensure that, where practical and cost-effective, all the council's procured services are net carbon zero by 2035
- Support and work with businesses and organisations towards making the entire borough net zero by 2050
- Review the council's investment strategyto give consideration to climate change impact
- Pro-actively include young people in the process
- Publicly report on the current level of investment in the fossil fuel industry
- Hold an annual ‘people's assembly’ of residents and relevant groups to shape the climate change action plan.
