A NEW town centre policing team is coming to Uxbridge from Monday (6).

It will consist of an inspector, three sergeants and 21 PCs, in response to concerns from people about feeling safe.

The extra officers will patrol at times that will have the most impact on crime as well as on public safety, such as in the evenings.

Acting Insp Nicola Duncan says: “Tackling violent crime is the top priority ,and those offences which disproportionately affect women and girls is a major part of policing plans.”

On Monday, between midday and 5pm, police will hold an outreach and recruitment event in the town centre, outside Pret A Manger.

The idea is to make contact with women, in particular, to learn more about the concerns and challenges they face.

Insp Duncan added: “Introducing greater female representation is something we are always striving to achieve, and this event will be an opportunity to speak to female officers from across the Met and learn about pathways into the organisation.”
