A COUNCIL tax rise for 2022/23 below the rate of inflation was agreed this week by Hillingdon Council’s ruling Conservative group..
The budget includes no cuts to services like waste and recycling collections, leisure, road resurfacing and town centre improvements.
Council tax woukd increase by 2.8 per cent. It includes a core increase of 1.8 per cent and a 1 per cent levy for social care.
Fees and charges would be increased broadly in line with the rate of inflation.
The Tories say savings are being achieved by creating more modern and efficient services, streamlining management and maximising use of council assets.
Cllr Martin Goddard, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “Being fiscally astute will allow us to continue with a programme of capital investment and no loss of services for residents.
“By keeping our council tax increase below the rate of inflation it means more money in residents’ pockets for the things they need.”
Residents can still have a say on the proposed budget at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/budget-consultation before Sunday, January 30.
