WORK is expected to start in the Spring on 134 affordable properties at The Old Vinyl Factory in Blyth Road, Hayes.

The scheme is part of a wider regeneration, transforming the former EMI pressing plant into homes, offices and leisure outlets.

When complete, the 17-acre site will include a total of 642 homes plus restaurants, shops, a gym, cinema and live music venue.

Network Homes’ development will include 57 properties for London Affordable Rent, 58 for Shared Ownership and 19 for London Living Rent.

The Old Vinyl Factory has a distinguished history employing 22,000 people at its peak.

All The Beatles’ albums were manufactured there as well as albums for bands such as Queen, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple before the factory closed in 1978.
