Last week I was invited to the charity Little Village in Watford to hear about how it has supported more than 17,000 children since being set up in 2016.

Little Village supports families with children up to the age of five and supplies families that are experiencing difficult times with pre-loved items such as buggies, cots, bottles and clothing – ensuring that good quality second-hand items do not go to waste. The charity is appealing for volunteers to help to sort, pack and send donations from its Watford site.

It is great to have a charity like Little Village in Watford. I know lots of local businesses have already volunteered to help them, and I hope that other organisations and individuals that have some time to donate will consider signing up. Thanks to the pandemic many people came forward to support local charities, and I have spoken many times about my desire to see this continue long-term.

Little Village’s CEO, Sophie Livingstone MBE, said: “Little Village has been incredibly busy since Covid struck and this rising demand means we need more volunteers than ever to help us to continue our work. Our Watford site is huge, and we use it to sort and pack hundreds of donated children’s items. Such a big operation needs lots of volunteers, so we’re really hoping to attract lots of local people to help us out. Please do get in touch if you’d like to find out more about volunteering.”
