HUNDREDS of new primary school places will be created by the expansion of Nanaksar Primary School in Springfield Road, Hayes.
The £14m project can accommodate up to 840 pupils across all primary years. The new school space – built for the Department for Education - includes a dedicated outdoor horticultural area.
Hugh Avison, director at CPMG Architects, said: “We made the most of the awkward tapering geometry of the site by creating an orchard, which provides a valuable natural asset to the campus.
“As it matures, it will become an important extension to the existing woodland within Minet Country Park.
“Another important consideration was the provision of a really supportive environment for the pupils.
"The building design and layout provides views across the landscape, small group breakout spaces, as well as staff spaces for pastoral support.”
