YOUNG people in Hillingdon are being encouraged to consider technical education routes into some of the biggest growing sectors in the area.

Apprenticeships, traineeships and the new T-levels are some of the qualifications being showcased this open day season.

It follows the launch of the national Get the Jump Skills for Life campaign, which brings together in one place all the training and education choices available for 14–19s.

It is predicted that, across West London, there will be 8,500 more health sector jobs, 6,500 more in IT and 2,500 more in education by 2025.

T-levels are designed with employers and include practical on-the-job training. A range of courses are available to study from September at Uxbridge College.

Dr Darrell DeSouza, CEO and Group Principal of Uxbridge College, said: “We’re encouraging all young people to get ahead and think about their options now.

“The new technical qualifications on offer will help them get a foot on the ladder in sought-after career pathways within top-performing growth areas.”
