Lark Davies will be revelling in the celebrations in Bayonne tonight after England defeated France 24-12 to clinch a fourth consecutive TikTok Women’s Six Nations title and a 16th Grand Slam.

The England hooker was named TikTok Women’s Six Nations Player of the Match for a superb display in a thrilling finale to the Championship.

Despite a tricky opening ten minutes in which France opened the scoring through Romane Ménager, England fought back to lead 21-7 at half-time.

And it was Davies’ accurate throwing that was crucial, with all three England tries, two from Sarah Bern and one for Abbie Ward, the result of rolling mauls.

Davies was duly delighted with her side’s performance.

She said: “This is what we work for: crowds like this, games like this. To get that result today, we didn’t make it easy for ourselves but it’s unbelievable.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the team and what we’ve achieved.

“We’ll definitely be celebrating tonight that’s for sure, but how we’ll celebrate I’m not sure yet. It’s been a tough few weeks, just making sure we make the most of it.

“This is a massive occasion, let’s celebrate it.”

Les Bleues were the last side to beat Simon Middleton’s Red Roses in the Championship back in March 2018 and a bumper French crowd were determined to replicate that 18-17 win in Grenoble.

“To get that result today is unbelievable, especially with this crowd,” she added. “It’s never easy coming to France. I’ve always got faith in the girls. Those last few minutes we were just making sure we kept the ball.”

An indomitable English maul played a key role in victory and Davies was pleased that hard work behind the scenes paid dividends.

“It’s definitely a weapon we’ve been working on. It’s built throughout the tournament. We’ve been working so hard in training and today we really showed what we can do,” she said.

“It wasn’t necessarily particularly pretty but we got the points off the back of it. I’m just so pleased for the girls and the team.”
