COUNCILLOR Becky Haggar was elected as the new Mayor of Hillingdon at the council’s annual meeting last night (12).

Cllr Ahmad-Wallana is the new Deputy Mayor.

Becky Haggar has lived in Ruislip since the age of two and has represented Eastcote and East Ruislip since she was first elected to the council in 2014. She now represents the new Eastcote ward.

She will be accompanied by her husband and Mayor’s Consort Marios Kaikitis and escorted by her daughters, Pollyanna and Ellie May.

She said: “My aim is create new friendships and partnerships with residents and highlight the fascinating history of this great borough.”

Cllr Haggar has used life experiences learned from her late husband's illness and passing to work with officers as the Carers’ Champion for the borough.

Her chosen charities are the Daniella Logun Foundation, a children’s brain tumour charity, and the Magical Marvellous Picture House, which helps disabled residents gain skills.

Retiring mayor Cllr Roy Chamdal said: “It has been a wonderful year. I will now go back to running my business but still plan to keep supporting my chosen charities. My thanks to everyone who has donated to them.”
